This is where all dreams is beginning

That day was cold and cloudy. We (my husband and I) were walking with great strides, trying to keep away from the wind that shook our cheek. For me Scotland was still a foreign country, very beautiful, but different in many ways from my country. I was looking for a bookstore from where to buy books to learn English and I could only find libraries.

By chance, while heading for the supermarket, I saw on the sidewalk a book with children’s stories. I enjoyed it very much and I took it without thinking, especially because it was going to start raining. Than be destroyed by the rain, I better go to my home and learn English reading it.

I already had some books in English, but a children’s book I thought was easier to understand. It was not like I thought. The Fantabulous BFG book is pretty tough for a person who knows English at the beginner level. Read More

From what age does old age begin?

I met a man from Poland at work. He likes to talk and has many stories to share with others. He told us one night of a funny story on Polish television when he was a child. The actor who voiced the characters of a children’s show, believing the film ended, cursed the children and the bear whose voice imitates. I enjoyed this happening, so I searched the internet for details and I found out that the bear that the Polish was talking about is the famous Teddy bear, Miś Uszatek in polish.

He was not interested in it, but he wanted to know the city where I live in my native country, Romania. Ploiesti, I told him. He looked into my eyes and told me he knew this city. I also looked at him with disbelief. Ploiesti is a small town, unknown to many people. How could believe a man in Poland know my city? He spoke to me one word and I immediately understood that he was telling me the truth, that he knew about the city of Ploiesti: the refineries. Read More

Hello world!

This is my first post in English, so be merciful and do not criticize me too much. I know I’m going to make a lot of mistakes, but I want to learn to write and spike in English and the blog is a good way to succeed. I live in Scotland since 22 September 2017. I understand almost everything people are talking about, but I can not find my words to communicate with them. For this reason at work I only sit with my mouth shut, which bothers me first. I will try to write as often as possible on my blog and I hope this will help me to develop my English language.

I was thinking to open another blog as soon as I learn English well enough. But why should I wait until when? I probably will not be ever able to write as well as a native. Besides, how can I learn better if not practice day by day? I will keep these small texts and I will post them on the blog when it will be ready (it is and… done). I would like to see, other the years, how I grow. I don’t care if others will be amused by my mistakes. For me, it is important to learn something at all times, to become better, and at this stage of my life learning English is the main objective. Read More
