On March 8 of each year, people around the world celebrate women, remembering all the achievements that women have in society in economic, social and political terms. At the same time, International Women’s Day reminds us of the fight against discrimination against women and the violence against women, which is still happening in some parts of the world, unfortunately.

As a curiosity, I would like to mention that Women’s Day was first celebrated in New York on February 28, 1909. It was intended to be a celebration in memory of a women’s strike, although it later turned out that she had not place no strike.

And yet, later, women in St. Petersburg went on strike to demand an end to World War I, an end to food rationalization, and the abolition of the tsarist dynasty.

In the Soviet Union, March 8 was declared an official holiday by Communists Alexandra Kollontai and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. This happened after the October Revolution, the Russian Revolution of 1917.

Nowadays, in many cultures around the world, on March 8th of every year, girls and women are wished well, given flowers and gifts, parties are organized and so on. In some countries, March 8 has been declared a public holiday and declared a day off by law.

Among the curiosities, I would mention here the fact that in China, on March 8, women have a free afternoon.

The woman has always been praised and appreciated by poets, writers, artists from all walks of life. Everyone described her as a gentle, delicate, sensitive being. However, I claim that the woman is much more than that. The woman is strong, has crazy courage, is intelligent and can fight with anyone for her rights and freedoms.

March 8 is just a symbol. International Women’s Day should be every day, as men often forget the contributions that women have made to the progress of mankind, just as they forget that in many parts of the world women are still considered a kind of extension man, only good for cooking, cleaning the house and taking care of children.

International Women’s Day 2022 should remind us that right now hundreds of thousands of women are forced to leave their homes, to flee, without knowing what tomorrow will bring them and whether they will be able to return ever in their country.

For International Women’s Day 2022, my wish is that every girl and woman in the world can be free to choose their path in life, to be happy and at the same time to keep their femininity and tenderness.
